Stayed at the Melia Tamarindos Hotel and Resort, and visited the Tara By Night restaurant. We were welcome by cheerful Alma, who is a star of a hostess. The place is clean, very welcoming and arrangements dont feel cramped. We tried a Rose wine with a couple of recommended starters and we were not disappointed. The prawn salad and a fish pattie was fresh and very tasty. The Rose complemented it thoroughly. We also took our nearly two year old, and she was served with Canarian potatoes and Hake fish. The portion was sizable. Our main course consisted of grilled jumbo shrimps accompanied by a speciality risotto. Its rare that I bother with food reviews but for the spectacular presentation alone I had to write one. Everything was fresh. The shrimp was cooked just right with the perfect blend of seasoning and its own flavours. Anyone who loves seafood will guaranteed go happy. The risotto was well balanced, cooked just enough with perfect seasoning. It was dark in colour, which added to its uniqueness. I later thanked the chef for the wonderful food. There were many other options in the menu if seafood is not your thing. For desert we tried a coffee pudding which was beautifully decorated, and a creme based caramelized pudding which looks like Creme Catalina if you've had one. Again both of these were perfect to switch flavours from the main course to a memorable closure to the dinner, but not without Alma's recommended shot of honey rum distilled in Canary Islands. That sealed the deal for us and was a perfect end to a wonderful evening. If you are anywhere in San Agustin in Gran Canaria, you MUST visit this captivating place. If it's location near the beach, elegant decor and fantastic food isnt enough, the world class service will surely please you. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try some fresh seafood cooked to perfection, served lovingly by the cheerful staff. Will definitely go back ifi return to Gran Canaria. 5 stars indeed!
